l OFFICERS l BOARD
of the Members of the NBPC's
National Board of Directors are:
Bailey, CEO of TCB Consulting Services,
Inc. does double duty serving as General Manager of WZZA Radio Station
in Muscle Shoals, Alabama
Tori joined the Southeast Chapter of the YBPC under the leadership of
Mitch Faulkner in the late 80's, later becoming active on the national
level as Assistant Secretary while simultaneously holding the position
of Secretary of the Southeast Regional Chapter. After serving as Southeast
Secretary for several years, she now sits on both the National and Regional
Boards of Directors. Having begun her career in radio at her father's
station in Alabama at age twelve, Tori was enticed into the area of record
promotions by none other than the legendary Bunky Shephard. She has many
years of industry experiences to share with her clients and with anyone
joining the NBPC for networking purposes.
Barryer, Vice President of Arista Records.
Vanessa has proven her loyalty and support of the NBPC time and time again
over the years. But there is more to Vanessa. Many people are not aware
of her heroics during one of the NBPC monthly meetings held at a hotel
in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During a brief break in the meeting, Vanessa
strolled outside to the pool area just in time to save the life of a hotel
guest when she administered mouth to mouth resusitation to the nearly
drowned man! Although she has downplayed the incident (not seeking attention
for her act), we are very proud of her and we're sure the family of the
victim give her their heartfelt thanks!
Davis, Arbitron National Director Urban Radio Marketing
Services and Senior Account Executive, Radio Station Services.
Julian has been the recipient of several awards won multiple times over
the years, such as Arbitron President's Club Awards, Arbitron 100% Club
Awards for Top Performers, Black Gold Television Award, Top Pop Announcer,
Jackson Music Awards, and last but certainly not least, the NBPC Special
President's Award as National Scholarship Chairperson. He began his journey
in the industry at WVON in Chicago and ended up in Jackson, Mississippi
doing radio and television. He has worked as Concert Promoter, Artist
Manager, Booking Agent, Movie Talent agency, Ad Agency and finally landed
at Arbitron. His advice to those in the business? "The more you know when
it comes time to cut the staff, the more you increase you chances of being
the last to go or the first to get hired on the next job."
Fox, Operations Manager for WFXA-FM, et al, in Augusta,
Kevin "Koolin'" Fox currently serves as our National First Vice President
and Membership Chairperson. He is quick to step in and efficently conduct
meetings in the absence of our National President and has always been
there to lend an ear and advice to those in the organization who count
on his wisdom. Kevin began his participitation in the NBPC by joining
the Southeast Chapter, later becoming Southeast President, and then Second
Vice President of the National Chapter. His years in radio include WIBB
in Macon, Georgia where he gained national notoriety for his dependability
and radio savvy.
Gardenhire, Midwest Regional Promotion Manager for RCA Records.
Chris's many years of promoting records (with A&M, EMI, and EMD Distribution)
has made him the excellent choice in the Midwest for promoting the NBPC.
He joined the NBPC ten years ago while residing in Dallas, then moved
to Chicago and organized the Midwest Chapter. His consistent involvement
not only on the national level, but in the midwest has kept that area
alive and well within the NBPC. We look forward to many more years of
fun in the Chicago area, and we are very happy to have Chris there to
welcome us to the market whenever we visit. Thanx for your spirit and
Miller, Jr., Publisher of Black Radio Exclusive Magazine.
Sidney established the first black music industry trade magazine, which
has evolved to be one of the premier entertainment news sources enjoyed
today not just by those within the industry, but by anyone who wants to
know what's going on the world of entertainment. Sidney has promoted records
(at Capital), delved into management and publishing, and is himself a
musician who plays the trumpet when he's not trouncing his opponents on
the golf course. Always hosting our monthly meetings during his annual
BRE Conference, his support of the NBPC has been and remains immeasurable.
Powell, Senior National Director for Priority Records.
Greg credits the NBPC as being an organization which helped students get
the chance to get into the Record Industry. He says that he joined because
after "knowing the struggles I had during my years in school, I wanted
to be able to give someting back." He has adopted the early NBPC slogan
"Each One Teach One" and serves as a fine example of the NBPC. Our continuing
effort to provide mentoring to students majoring in the field of communications
makes Greg's continued participation in the National Chapter greatly appreciated.
Taylor, Publisher of the NBPC Newsletter/Assistant Dean
of Student Services at DeKalb Technical College in Covington, Georgia.
Amanda joined the NBPC during the late 1970's, in the days when it was
still known as the Young Black Programmers Coalition. Having worked as
a producer/director for Mississippi Educational Television in Jackson,
Amanda began her work as the publisher of the original YBPC newsletter.
She rejoined us and, not content to be just a member, went back
to work helping to organize NBPC student workshops for the Southeast Chapter.
We are very happy to have her back doing an excellent job of sharing the
news of the organization with the world.

Black Progrommers Coalition. We'll be adding more bio info from our board
